Drive by Daniel H. Pink

I grew up in a world where rewards and recognition is very important. I see it not only in my family, but in school, in my workplace, in my community, in my country. I see it happening globally. The other side of it is the world where punishments are abundant for those who don't behave themselves so well. It can be in a form of deprivation of freedom, material things, and other things you can think of.

I see in this book the need for the world to upgrade its motivational operating system. This upgrade is more geared towards individuals' inner selves. This book titled Drive provides a compelling argument on what it takes to make this upgrade. The ideas in this book about motivation will be very useful for every human being functioning in my modern world.

This book gives an explanation as to why there were many times when giving incentives to employees don't always work. It can sometimes backfire in a form of unethical practices. Some people are resorting to manipulation of their performance to show a good picture just to get a certain prize like money, recognition, promotion, etc.

Things have to change in the way we think about motivation today. This book will help.
